These are our thoughts for 2012-2015 versions of ADBUC and ABUC, you're welcome to help make something happen.
As ultimate players, we believe that beach ultimate is social and is fun but is also competitive and brings a different atmosphere to the ultimate arena. We are passionate about ultimate development in Australia and about the development of a stronger club culture. We really want to put our 2 cents into the community by promoting fun and fair competitiveness through these two events.
2012 Australian Beach Ultimate Championship.
ABUC’s Purpose:
To develop beach ultimate in Australia and Queensland as a seriously fun (meaning both fun and competitive, as opposed to just fun) lead to Beach Worlds.
Vision 2012-2015.
We imagine a shorter and cheaper version of the beach worlds standard happening in Queensland for the first 4 versions of the tournament and then all around Australia. That is, full 2 or 3 day tournaments in proper beach field size, party, BULA rules, providing dedicated event experience to players and encourage all player divisions (open, women, mixed, juniors, masters) based on performance and qualifications. The tournament will also progress to share space with other beach events in the country like beach volleyball, surf-life saving and the odd beach cricket game, with access to portable grand stands, entertainment, sponsorship and profitability.
2012 Goal:
8 Open, 12 mixed and 4 women’s teams of 10 players each, including 2 international teams registered by the 20th of April 2012.
Subgoal: 2012 ADBUC
ADBUC Purpose: To develop beach ultimate in Australia and Queensland as a seriously fun (meaning both fun and competitive, as opposed to just fun) lead to Australian Beach Ultimate Championship.
Vision 2012-2015
We imagine ADBUC being one of the warm-up tournaments for the Australian Beach Ultimate Championships, with full 2 or 3 day tournaments in proper beach field size, party, BULA rules, providing dedicated event experience to players and encourage open and mixed player divisions only (due to current limitations on space in January). The tournament will also progress to share space with other beach events in the Gold Coast like beach volleyball surf-life saving and the odd beach cricket game, with access to portable grand stands, entertainment, sponsorship and profitability.
2012 ADBUC Goal : 12 teams of 10 players registered by the 11th of January 2012.
